The Spanish club praised Messi in a message shared on its X handle on Wednesday, congratulating the Argentine icon for his lasting contribution to the national team and the legacy he has built in the famous blue-and-white jersey.
“From that gold medal in Beijing in 2008 to an unforgettable career, making history every step of the way with La Albiceleste,” Barcelona said.
The club added: “Congratulations, Leo, for continuing to make Argentina’s jersey even more iconic!”

Barcelona’s tribute underlined the enduring connection between Messi and the club, where he spent the majority of his professional career and established himself as one of the greatest players in its history.
