Atletico Madrid head coach Diego Simeone has revealed his plans to integrate Super Eagles attacker Ademola Lookman into his best position in the club’s attacking setup, Soccernet.ng reports.
The 28-year-old joined the 2014 La Liga winners last week in a €40m, becoming just the second-ever Nigerian to put pen to paper with Los Colchoneros.
Lookman was paired alongside Antoine Griezmann in Atletico’s attack in their Copa del Rey quarter-final clash against Real Betis.
David Hancko and Giuliano Simeone took Atletico to a two-goal lead before Lookman chimed in with the game’s third, while setting Griezmann up for the fourth goal.

Atletico head coach reveals Ademola Lookman’s best position
Lookman played in a front-two against Betis last time out, but Simeone has hinted it wouldn’t be that way going forward as he looks to bring the best from the 2024 CAF Player of the Year.
“Well, we’ll try little by little to get to know each other, him [Lookman] with the team and us with his characteristics, and obviously trying to have in his offensive characteristics that criterion he has for attacking, going to search with the team for what best combines in consequence of what we need,” the Argentine said in an interview with Esto es Atleti.

“I consider that all parties are not the same. The Levante and Betis games are different. The players on each team are different.
“Against Betis, we scored a set-piece ball goal. They were not bad in the first minutes, and they could tie us on the occasion that Marc slips.
“We do not depend on Griezmann, Lookman, Sorloth and Julian. We depend on the whole team; the ball stopped. They are not only worth the goals of the forwards,” the former Inter Milan coach concluded.

Ademola Lookman could make his La Liga debut for Atletico Madrid tomorrow when they take on Real Betis at the Wanda Metropolitano.
