• ADC candidate urges Nigerians to monitorINEC’s preparedness
The members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Anambra State have thrown their full political weight behind the governorship aspiration of Prince Nicholas Ukachukwu, the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the coming November 8, 2025, governorship election.
In a brief remark while introducing the PDP members and eggheads to Ukachukwu and his key campaign organisation heads, the leader of the group, Joseph Madubeze, vowed they would not relent until Governor Charles Soludo is upstaged.
Madubueze disclosed that he was speaking the collective decision and minds of all PDP members and executives from the seven councils constituting the Anambra North Senatorial Zone, as it concerned the coming election.
He emphasised that it was unfortunate that the incumbent Soludo administration disappointed the citizens, especially the pains and hardship it has been visiting on all inhabitants of Anambra State.
So they vowed to ally with someone with demonstrable progressive credentials and a mind like Ukachukwu to remove Soludo.
A cross-section of the people lamented that they have been subjected to untold hardship by the Soludo-led All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) government instead of providing democratic dividends.
Madubueze told the APC candidate that those present were only representatives of their groups, describing him(Ukachukwu) as a ‘Daniel’ who has come to judgment.
He emphasised that the senatorial zone has unanimously declared their full support for Ukachukwu.
Prince Ukachukwu welcomed them warmly, commending their resolve to team up with him to achieve the aim of all people of goodwill in the state who have resolved to remove Soludo at the ballot on November 8, 2025.
Meanwhile, the African Democratic Congress (ADC) candidate for the November 8 Anambra State gubernatorial election, Mr John Chuma Nwosu, has called on Nigerians to pay keen attention and develop an active interest in the election to gauge the preparedness of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to ascertain if the commission has improved in its election management strategies.
Nwosu stated that while all eyes are on the terminal exit of the INEC chairman, Prof. Yakubu Mahmood, and how his successor would emerge, the greater interest should be on the commission itself as an institution, stressing that the electoral body is already mature from the rich lessons.
The ADC candidate, who spoke to journalists on the incremental progress recorded by INEC since 1999, said a lot still depends on political parties to inculcate internal democracy in the management of their affairs, particularly the enlightenment of supporters and voters.
The governorship hopeful asserted that, due to the existence of mainly two broad alternatives on the ballot for the election, voters in Anambra State would have it easy to choose their next governor.
