A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, Chief Ayirimi Emami, has called on security agencies to apprehend and prosecute those responsible for the killing of Emiko Onuwaje in Warri South-West Local Government Area of Delta State.

The appeal came on Monday in a statement issued in Abuja following a deadly clash on Saturday between youths from Ugborodo and neighbouring Ogidigben riverine Itsekiri communities, which left Onuwaje dead.

Emami, who paid a condolence visit to the victim’s family, condemned the killing as tragic and unacceptable.

He lamented that “brothers” could resort to such inhumane actions over minor disputes, warning that violence only deepens divisions and hampers development.

He urged residents, particularly indigenes of Ugborodo, to remain calm and allow law enforcement agencies to carry out a thorough investigation. Emami also called on community members to unite against criminal elements.

“I urge our people to remain calm and allow the police and other law enforcement agencies get to the root of the killing of this innocent man and ultimately fish out the culprits. Our cry is for justice for the dead and the bereaved family,” he said.

Emami further stressed that ongoing efforts to fast-track development in the Ugborodo Federated Communities would not be derailed by individuals with criminal tendencies, urging residents to safeguard peace and unity in the area.
