Anthony Dennis eyes Middle East switch after Anderlecht & Bundesliga links stall

Super Eagles target Anthony Dennis could be on his way to the Middle East, despite links to multiple clubs in Europe, Soccernet.ng reports.

​This summer, Dennis’ future has been on the front burner at Goztepe, as he has been linked with several clubs. He joined the club as a youth player in 2023 and has grown to become a key player in the first team.

​Last summer, he was linked with several sides, but he ended up staying in Turkey. This summer, the talks have continued, with Anderlecht still interested.

The 22-year-old has also been linked with clubs like Hoffenheim, Mainz, Augsburg, and Stuttgart, but none of them has been able to secure his signature.

​Recently, news emerged that the major reason the Nigerian midfielder has been unable to seal a transfer is his suitors’ failure to meet Goztepe’s valuation of the player.

​Still, with just around two weeks until the close of the transfer window, Goztepe were always likely to push for a sale since he has only a year left on his contract and they would want to cash in rather than lose him on a free transfer.

​Now, it appears that Dennis might finally be on his way out of Goztepe.

Anthony Dennis Set To Move To Middle East

​According to Tribuna, UAE club Al Jazira are in advanced talks with Goztepe for Anthony Dennis.

​Negotiations are reportedly progressing positively, largely fueled by the fact that Al Jazira defender Richard Akonnor is a target for Goztepe.

​Middle East clubs pay well, so they will be able to offer Dennis a much bigger contract than what he currently earns at Goztepe. However, the major question is whether he is ready to leave Europe for the Middle East at just 22 years old.

That move could hurt Dennis’ chances of playing for the Super Eagles, as it is unlikely that Eric Chelle will look to the Middle East given the midfield options at his disposal.
