A Federal High Court sitting in Abeokuta, Ogun State, has ordered the Office of the Attorney-General of the Federation (AGF) to take over the prosecution of a cyberstalking case involving the Alagbado of Agbado, Oba Adedayo Richard Shyllon.

The case, filed by the Commissioner of Police with charge number FHC/AB/79C/2025, came up for plea proceedings on Tuesday before Justice Abiodun J. Adeyemi. The 62-year-old monarch was present in court when the matter was called.

Justice Adeyemi informed counsel that the court had received a letter from the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) in the Office of the AGF, dated September 16, 2025, requesting to assume control of the case under Section 174 of the 1999 Constitution (as amended).

A Certified True Copy of the court order, dated September 24, 2025, confirmed that the DPP’s request had been served and acknowledged by the Office of the Inspector-General of Police (IGP) on the same day. Copies were also sent to the Assistant Inspector-General of Police, Zone 2 Command, Onikan, Lagos, and the Ogun State Police Command, Eleweran, Abeokuta.

After considering the submissions, Justice Adeyemi granted the application, formally transferring the case from the police to the federal ministry of justice.

“The application of the AGF to take over the matter is granted.”The case of Commissioner of Police vs. Adedayo Richard Shyllon is hereby taken over by the AGF,” the judge ruled.

With the ruling, the prosecution will now be handled by the Office of the Attorney-General. Further hearing in the case has been adjourned to October 29, 2025.
