As the political atmosphere in Oyo State gradually builds toward the 2027 general elections, a retired Justice of the Court of Appeal, Justice Oladeinde Shoremi, and the President-General of the Okebadan High School Old Students Association, Dr. Rafiu Ladipo, have thrown their weight behind the governorship aspiration of renowned human rights lawyer and historian, Chief Niyi Aborisade.
The endorsement and prayer session took place during a meeting of the old students’ association held in Abeokuta, Ogun State. The gathering, which included prominent elders and alumni of the institution, expressed strong support for Chief Aborisade’s political ambition under the banner of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Introducing the aspirant to the gathering, Dr. Ladipo said, “He is contesting for the governorship on the platform of the PDP. I want to present him to you.”
In a heartfelt spiritual declaration, Justice Shoremi led a session of prayers for Aborisade’s political journey, declaring: “By the special grace of God, I am presenting him for your blessings. You are going to be a pride to us.
That office you want, you shall get there. Nothing will stop you from getting there. God will grant your heart’s desires to govern the state.”
He urged attendees to consider Aborisade’s ambition as a collective project and to mobilise support among family and friends. “We must hold this as our project. You will get there. Speak to your children, friends, and family members.
By God’s grace, you will become Oyo State Governor,” Shoremi affirmed.
Chief Aborisade, a UK-trained lawyer, author, and advocate for justice, has remained vocal on governance, citizenship rights, and the development of Oyo State. His emergence in the 2027 race adds fresh momentum to conversations around leadership and progressive governance in the state.
