Legal luminary and politician, Barrister Niyi Aborisade, has reaffirmed his preparedness to contest the 2027 governorship election in Oyo State, vowing to deliver a people-centred governance inspired by the progressive ideals of the late Chief Obafemi Awolowo.

Aborisade, the Mogaji of Ajagba Compound in Oke-Ofa Babasale, made the declaration at his 58th birthday celebration held at his Bodija country home in Ibadan.

Among the high-profile guests were Nigeria’s former Ambassador to the Philippines, Dr. Yemi Farounbi; renowned arts and culture advocate, Prince Tunde Odunlade; Mr. Wasiu Abiola; and Hon. Yinka Taiwo, a former PDP chairman in Oyo State. Friends, associates, and political stakeholders also graced the event in large numbers.

Addressing journalists, Aborisade expressed profound gratitude to the attendees, describing their presence as a demonstration of loyalty and enduring friendship.

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chieftain also used the occasion to commend the party’s recent state congress, congratulating the newly elected executives and urging them to foster unity ahead of the 2027 polls.

Aborisade called on Nigerians, particularly youths, to participate actively in the democratic process by registering for and collecting their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs). According to him, credible leadership begins with informed electoral participation.

When asked about his much-speculated governorship ambition, Aborisade did not hold back.”I am ready to serve the good people of Oyo State. My passion is to deliver the dividends of democracy, the Awolowo way, built on integrity, selfless service, and a genuine concern for the welfare of the people,” he said.

In his goodwill message, Ambassador Farounbi described Aborisade as “a good man with great intentions for the people,” expressing optimism that his 2027 ambition would come to fruition.
