Super Eagles and Coventry City midfielder Frank Onyeka could secure a promotion to the English Premier League with his side when they face Sheffield Wednesday this afternoon, Soccernet.ng reports.

The 28-year-old joined the Sky Blue Stars back in January after the AFCON 2025 title and has played 10 games for Frank Lampard’s side, with eight of those ending in victories.

Should Lampard’s side defeat Sheffield Wednesday, and Middlesbrough fail to win, Frank Onyeka and his teammates will take Coventry to the Premier League for the first time in 24 years.

Frank Lampard wants muted celebrations from Coventry City players

Should the Sky Blue Stars seal promotion, the former Chelsea boss reveals he doesn’t want them to get overconfident with five league games left to play.

“Am I ready for the season to end in five games? Yes. Do I want to go on a holiday? Yes, for sure, absolutely do. I want to get some sun,” the former England midfielder said in quotes revealed by the Coventry Telegraph.

“We had one day of it this week and it was amazing I want to go away and have a bit of a break because I, and we, put a lot into this, and that’s the only way to do this job. And that’s every manager, by the way. I’m not special here, you have to give everything.

“The only aim now is to try and get this job done, and we know what that is and we’ve got five games to do it. We don’t want to do it in five games, but you know what I mean.

“There’s no plan for that [A champagne], no. My plan is to go home and have a beer, or two.”

“No, no. We find ourselves in this slightly sort of, not strange but good situation, right, where we may be waiting on things but I’m not.

“I think if we get the result we want to get, I’ll know where we’re at. So hence I’ll have my beer anyway,” the 47-year-old concluded.
