Digital payments can play a critical role in improving tax administration, revenue collection and public service delivery, eTranzact Plc has said.
The Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of eTranzact, Niyi Toluwalope, stated this at the Nigeria Employers’ Summit 2026, organised by the Nigeria Employers’ Consultative Association in Abuja, according to a statement issued by the company on Thursday.
Toluwalope, represented by the Executive Director and Group Head, Public Sector Division, Mr Abubakar Achimugu, said digital payments had evolved beyond facilitating financial transactions to becoming an essential driver of economic growth and accountability.
The statement read, “He said digital payments have evolved beyond simply moving money to becoming an important part of the economy by improving transparency, strengthening revenue collection, enhancing tax administration and supporting better public service delivery.”
Speaking on the role of technology in national development, he said governments across the world were investing in Digital Public Infrastructure as the foundation for efficient modern economies.
He explained that Digital Public Infrastructure was built on three interconnected pillars of digital identity, trusted data exchange and digital payments.
Toluwalope said Nigeria had already recorded significant progress in digital identity enrolment, noting that the country had over 100 million National Identity Numbers and more than 60 million Bank Verification Numbers.
He added that while government provides the enabling policy framework, private sector firms were responsible for building, operating and expanding the digital infrastructure needed to support economic activities.
He stated, “Every digital payment creates a trusted record. Every trusted record strengthens accountability.
“Every accountable transaction reduces leakages. Every reduction in leakages increases confidence in government, institutions and the economy, and that is where eTranzact comes in.”
He said the company’s technology solutions were supporting government institutions and businesses to improve efficiency and service delivery.
“At eTranzact, we believe technology creates value only when it advances national priorities. That belief guides every solution we build,” he said.
Toluwalope added that the firm’s support extended to Federal and State Government revenue collections as well as digital transformation initiatives across the public and private sectors.
He listed some of the company’s platforms to include its e-Invoicing Solution, Pension Gateway, Electronic Verification Management System, Central Billing Systems and other digital solutions designed to improve operational efficiency, transparency and service delivery.
“Our platforms are designed to support organisations, including members of NECA, by helping them improve their operations through secure and efficient digital solutions.
“These solutions position eTranzact not only as a champion of digital payment innovation, but also as a trusted partner in translating public sector reforms into measurable economic outcomes, making us the preferred financial technology partner for both the public and private sectors,” he said.
Toluwalope further stated that digital payment innovation was contributing to Environmental, Social and Governance objectives by promoting financial inclusion, strengthening governance and enabling businesses to operate more efficiently.
He reaffirmed the company’s commitment to working with both government and the private sector to build trusted digital payment infrastructure capable of supporting ongoing reforms.
“The future will not be shaped by the reforms we announce, but by the outcomes we deliver,” he said.
Also speaking at the summit, eTranzact’s federal government Business Partnerships lead, Adedayo Adejokun, said the company’s sponsorship of the event reflected its commitment to supporting government reforms and inclusive economic growth.
“We’re here today because we’re one of the sponsors of this summit. For us, sponsorship is about putting our money where our mouth is. We strongly believe in ESG principles and in driving inclusiveness,” she said.
Adejokun added that the company’s role extended beyond payment processing.
“Our role as a financial technology solutions company goes beyond facilitating payments. We simplify interactions between citizens, businesses, and government by making these processes more seamless and efficient.
“The more government creates opportunities for private sector participation, the more opportunities are generated for businesses and individuals alike,” she added.
The summit brought together participants from the public and private sectors, with the launch of the Environmental, Social and Governance implementation guide for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises in Nigeria as one of the highlights of the event.
The PUNCH earlier reported that eTranzact reaffirmed its commitment to supporting taxpayers with same-day onboarding and seamless electronic invoice uploads as the Nigeria Revenue Service intensifies the phased implementation of its e-invoicing regime.
