Super Eagles and Trabzonspor striker Paul Onuachu has received another major recognition after his goal against Fenerbahçe was voted the best goal of Matchweek 22 in the Süper Lig, Soccernet.ng reports.
The award was decided entirely by fans through voting conducted on the league’s official social media platforms.
Supporters were asked to choose their favourite strike of the round, and Onuachu’s powerful header finished comfortably on top.
In a statement confirming the result, league organisers said:
“The best goal of the 22nd week of the Trendyol Super Lig has been determined by your votes in the polls we conducted on our social media accounts; Paul Onuachu.”
Although Trabzonspor lost the thrilling derby 3-2, the Nigerian forward’s finish quickly became one of the standout moments of the weekend. The build-up play, combined with his dominant aerial presence and clinical execution was the highlight of the five goals scored in the encounter.
A bronze medal winner at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, Onuachu continues to establish himself as one of the Turkish league’s most decisive attacking players.

Onuachu: Praise for the Super Eagles striker
Beyond the award itself, Onuachu’s performance in the derby also drew high praise from Turkish television personality Ali Sunal during a discussion on the Vole programme.
While analysing the match alongside former international Metin Tekin, Sunal highlighted how difficult the Nigerian striker was to contain, even for experienced defenders such as Milan Škriniar.

“It was an incredible match. One moment it was Trabzonspor, the next it was Fenerbahçe. A back-and-forth game,” Ali Sunal noted as per TakaGazete.
“It was a high-quality match. There were standout players. Onuachu is an incredible player for Trabzonspor. With his physique and massive build, he didn’t let anyone get close to him, he hit every ball that came in the air. We saw moments where even a center-back like Skriniar was helpless.”
Onuachu’s impact goes far beyond one goal. The Super Eagles striker has scored 16 league goals in just 19 appearances this season, placing him firmly among the leading contenders for the Golden Boot.

Now wearing the captain’s armband, the Nigerian has become the focal point of Trabzonspor’s attacking system under coach Fatih Tekke. Six of his goals have come from headers as defenders continue to struggle against him.
Up next, Trabzonspor will face another away game against Gaziantep and Onuachu will aim to maintain his remarkable momentum.
