The Vice Chairman of the Senate Committee on Ecology and Climate Change, Senator Ireti Kingibe has expressed support for the GreenSkyBreathe Nigeria Campaign aimed at addressing air pollution in the country.
Kingibe, in a statement in Abuja, expressed concern over the death of no fewer than 6.5 million persons annually from air pollution globally.
Stressing the need for converted efforts to address the catastrophic effect of air pollution in the country, she applauded the launch of the $20Bn Ecocitizen Travel Marketplace and its flagship “GreenSkyBreathe Nigeria Campaign.
The lawmaker emarked that since air pollution does not respect borders, it behooves on the citizenry working in tandem with the authorities to provide a homegrown solution to the hazard.
She noted that the launch of Fly2Green Nigeria as part of activities to mark the International Day of Clean Air for Blue Skies 2025, is a bold step toward Nigeria’s climate commitments and a model for how innovation can serve both people and planet.
She expressed optimism that pan-African initiative will transform aviation into a catalyst for clean air, ecosystem conservation, and green growth.
