As part of efforts aimed at reducing carbon emission in the country, members of the Young Engineers in American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE) recently commissioned solar-powered borehole donated to Oko-Oba Abattoir in Agege, Lagos State.
President ASHRAE Nigeria Chapter, Franklin Olatunji, stated, “we are trying to maintain green environment all over the world. We are decarbonise the environment so that it is beautiful and sustainable.”
He added the solar-powered borehole would prevent use of generating sets, which will reduce noise and carbon emission. Expressing her appreciation, Ikeja Zonal Coordinator for Ministry of Agriculture Dr. Enebeli Olajumoke said, “on behalf of the ministry, we say a big thank you for this project, we’ll like to have a replica of this in the Animal Market.”
Secretary, Butchers Stakeholders’ Forum, Ubale Isah Umar, acknowledged ASHRAE members for the gesture and urged them to provide another borehole.
ASHRAE is present in over 132 nations of the world with about 15,000 members.
