The Permanent Secretary of the State House, Mr. Temitope Fashedemi, on Wednesday paid glowing tribute to the late former President Muhammadu Buhari, describing him as an elder statesman who dedicated his life to the service of the nation and the upliftment of the poor.
Signing the condolence register at the Presidential Villa in Abuja, Fashedemi hailed the former leader as a man of integrity and deep compassion, whose leadership was marked by a commitment to improving the lives of ordinary Nigerians.
“Our dearly departed former President, Muhammadu Buhari, GCFR, you were indeed a great man, passionate about duty and wholly focused on nation-building,” Fashedemi wrote.
“You were a man of integrity, deeply committed to improving the livelihood of the majority of our citizens, especially the poor among us.”
Fashedemi noted that those who had the privilege of working closely with Buhari, both in the State House and across the public service, could attest to his genuine concern for the country and his unwavering dedication.
“For those of us in the State House and the larger public service, we can vouch for your concern for the nation and affirm that you gave your very best to Nigeria. You will be forever missed,” he said.
He prayed for divine mercy upon the late President’s soul and for his eternal rest.
Meanwhile, President Bola Tinubu has directed that condolence registers be opened in all federal ministries, departments, and agencies, as well as at Nigerian embassies and missions abroad, in honour of the former President who passed away on Sunday, July 13, in London at the age of 82.
