Brazilian striker Tiquinho Soares has advised Super Eagles star Terem Moffi to enjoy himself as much as possible if he makes his debut in the game between Porto and Sporting CP on Monday, Soccernet.ng reports.
Moffi completed a half-season transfer from French club OGC Nice to Porto in the January transfer window.
Before leaving Nice, he was targeted by some fans, which strained his relationship with the club. However, he has enjoyed a warm welcome since moving to Porto.
For Moffi, this is a critical point in his career as he tries to return to his best after suffering an anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury two years ago.
However, he is set for a baptism of fire. The club plays fierce rivals Sporting CP in O Clássico on Monday, in what will be his first game for the team.
Since he only recently moved to Porto, it is unlikely that the 26-year-old will start for the Dragons. But he will likely get minutes off the bench.
The atmosphere is expected to be tense, given the gravity of the fixture, the rivalry, and the quality on both sides. So, Moffi might struggle.
Ex-Brazil Striker Backs Terem Moffi
Ahead of the clash between Porto and Sporting CP, former Porto striker Tiquinho has advised Super Eagles star Terem Moffi to remain calm and try to enjoy his football.
Moffi will don the number 29 jersey at Porto, the same number Tiquinho wore during his time there. As such, he has also backed the 26-year-old to shine for the Dragons.
“The advice I give him (Moffi) is to enjoy the game, such a big classic, enjoy it,” Tiquinho said, per Portal Dos Dragoes.
“I wish him good luck, that he can have a good debut and that FC Porto can come away with the victory, which is the most important thing. And may that number 29 jersey bless him, may he score many goals and bring much joy to everyone at the Dragão stadium.”
In their last five meetings, Porto and Sporting CP have shared the spoils twice, while the latter has picked two wins.
However, Moffi will be hoping to make things even soon. A debut goal for him would definitely give him a big morale booster.
