Troops of the Nigerian Army and Operation Whirl Punch have neutralised two bandits and recovered arms and ammunition during a clearance operation in the general area of Juji and Telele-Kaso in Chikun Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
The operation, which took place on Monday, November 13, was part of the ongoing efforts to counter terrorism, banditry, and other criminal elements in the North West region of Nigeria.
The Army spokesperson, Lieutenant Colonel Musa Yahaya, said in a statement that the bandits who opened fire on sighting the troops approaching their location were overpowered by the troops’ superior and overwhelming firepower, thereby neutralising two of the bandits while others fled in disarray.
“The troops recovered one AK 47 rifle, three AK 47 rifle magazines, a quantity of five 7.62mm (special) ammunition, two locally made hand grenades, four handsets, two motorcycle bearings, spanners, screwdrivers and two bags,” Yahaya added.
The General Officer Commanding 1 Division Nigerian Army and Force Commander Operation Whirl Punch, Major General Valentine Okoro, has urged the public to continue to support the army and other security agencies with credible information to enhance the fight against terrorism, banditry, and other criminal activities in the Division’s Area of Responsibility.
