Raphael Onyedika suffered a hamstring injury in the last week of September….
Super Eagles midfielder Raphael Onyedika has taken a significant step in his recovery from a hamstring injury, as he has started light training on the pitch, Soccernet.ng reports.
Onyedika suffered a hamstring injury on September 24, during Club Brugge’s 5-5 draw against Westerlo at the Jan Breydel Stadium.
That made him miss the international break with the Super Eagles of Nigeria. He has also missed Club Brugge’s last four games.

Luckily for Onyedika the type of injury he suffered does not require a surgery to correct. And now, he is close to making his return.

The 24-year-old defensive midfielder shared a picture of himself on Club Brugge’s training ground on Instagram, with the caption, “God timing”.

In the picture, Onyedika is in his training gear and his coach speaking to him.
The timeline for the Super Eagles star’s return was initially 5-6 weeks, and he has already done four weeks. And usually, when players start training on the pitch, it means they are close to returning to action.
Raphael Onyedika: A Potential Boost For The Super Eagles
Raphael Onyedika will likely return to action in a week or two, and asides from it being a boost boost for Club Brugge, it is also a boost for the Super Eagles of Nigeria.
The Super Eagles will be back in action next month for the 2026 FIFA World Cup playoffs, and his availability could be key.

Onyedika could be a solid backup for Wilfred Ndidi, or even take over the starting shirt, depending on Eric Chelle’s preferences.
He will be looking to continue to produce brilliant performances for club and country when he returns to action.
