The FCT Police Command has recovered 21 stolen vehicles and arrested 1,611 suspects involved in various crimes, including car theft and drug offences.
Commissioner of Police CP Ajao S. Adewale, while speaking at a press briefing, stated that the Command’s proactive, intelligence-led raids across identified hotspots have yielded significant results.
Adewale reeled out key achievements in April 2025: 21 suspected stolen vehicles recovered, 15 individuals arrested in connection with vehicle theft, and 1,611 suspects apprehended in coordinated raids targeting blackspots across the FCT.
Others include large quantities of cannabis, methamphetamine, codeine, Tramadol, and other illicit drugs confiscated.
Of the recovered vehicles, six have already been returned to verified owners, while 13 were paraded during the press briefing.
CP Adewale called on residents to cooperate with law enforcement agencies by providing timely information, noting that the Command remains committed to ensuring the safety of lives and property across the FCT.
Notable Arrests and Recoveries:
April 11: A Toyota Camry stolen from the Revenue Mobilization and Fiscal Commission was recovered and a suspect, Hassan Bukar, was arrested with a bunch of master keys.
April 10: A Toyota Camry 2011, entrusted to a mechanic and later sold without consent, was traced and recovered in Gwarinpa. One suspect arrested; the mechanic remains at large.
March 4: An official Hilux belonging to the Ministry of Regional Development was tracked to Kaduna and recovered from a fleeing driver attempting to sell it.
April 28: A stolen Mercedes Benz 4matic E-400 was intercepted in Life Camp while being sold. Five suspects were arrested, and the vehicle traced to its original owner in Lagos.
April 30–May 1: In a joint operation involving the Police, Army, and local vigilantes, 1,488 suspects were arrested in raids across several FCT blackspots.
Items recovered include Large volumes of hard drugs and psychotropic substances, 149 mobile phones, 10 tablets, 14 laptops, 19 power banks, 10 POS machines, 15 motorcycles, 2 generators, 109 ATM cards and various sharp objects used as weapons, CP Adewale reaffirmed the Command’s zero tolerance for criminality, assuring residents that all suspects will face prosecution as investigations conclude.
