The Zamfara State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has condemned a statement by the All Progressives Congress (APC) endorsing President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for a second term in 2027.
According to a statement issued by Haliru Andi, the State PDP publicity secretary, the PDP and indeed the good people of Zamfara and Nigeria at large, view the endorsement as nothing but a political comedy, a joke taken too far, and an insult to the intelligence of suffering Nigerians.
“How can anyone in good conscience endorse a President whose government has inflicted unprecedented hardship, hunger, insecurity, unemployment, and poverty on Nigerians within just one year and a few months in office?
“The so-called endorsement only exposes the selfishness and desperation of APC leaders in Zamfara State who have lost touch with reality and the plight of the common man.
“It is laughable that the same group of leaders who ruined Zamfara State and Nigeria are now attempting to sell an expired political product to the same masses they have betrayed.
“Nigerians are wiser now, and no amount of stage-managed gatherings or empty declarations will deceive them again.
“Whenever APC leaders in Zamfara State gather, it is never about the welfare of the people, but rather about sharing positions, protecting personal interests, and plotting how to remain politically relevant. They have no vision, no compassion, and no solutions to the problems they created.
“Under President Tinubu and the APC, the Nigerian economy has collapsed, insecurity has worsened, and life has become unbearable for ordinary citizens.
“The prices of food and essential commodities continue to skyrocket daily while banditry and killings remain rampant, especially here in Zamfara.
“The PDP wishes to remind the people of Zamfara and Nigeria that 2027 will not be business as usual. The era of deceit, manipulation, and propaganda is now behind us.
“The Nigerian people will reject Tinubu and the APC overwhelmingly at the polls, just as the people of Zamfara have already rejected their failed policies.
“Our great party, the PDP, remains the only credible alternative with a clear vision to restore hope, rebuild the economy, and secure our nation from the devastating failures of the APC.
“We therefore urge the good people of Zamfara State not to be distracted by this political drama in Talata Mafara. It was never a meeting for the people, but a meeting for the few, the same faces responsible for the state’s backwardness.
“Zamfara State and Nigeria deserve better, and that better future lies with the PDP.”
