Leaders of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Oke Ogun, Oyo State, have reaffirmed their confidence in the leadership of Governor Seyi Makinde, describing his administration as one of the most impactful in the state’s political history.
The declaration followed a well-attended stakeholders’ meeting held at the LA Demonstration School I & II field in Iseyin, where party executives and chieftains from the ten local government areas of the Oke Ogun zone gathered to review the state of the party and chart its political direction.

The meeting came at a critical time for the Oyo PDP, following the resignation of Senator Hosea Agboola, a former party stalwart. However, rather than sowing division, the development appeared to strengthen the resolve of party members, who described the senator’s exit as “a blessing in disguise” that would allow the PDP to refocus and consolidate its grassroots strength.
Present at the meeting were the Deputy Governor of Oyo State, Bayo Lawal; former House of Representatives member and Ayedero of Yorubaland, Shina Peller; and PDP Board of Trustees member, Hamid Gbadamosi, among other key figures. Each of the ten local government party chairmen addressed the gathering, stressing that the PDP in Oke Ogun remains united and fully aligned with the governor’s vision for inclusive governance and sustainable development.
Speaking to journalists after the meeting, Peller highlighted the importance of periodic stakeholder engagement, noting that the exercise provided an opportunity to gauge the party’s internal cohesion and reconnect with the grassroots. “The era where you will tell people what to do has come to an end,” he said, urging leaders to embrace genuine, people-centred leadership and new systems that reflect the aspirations of modern politics.
Peller reaffirmed his loyalty to the PDP and his full support for Governor Makinde’s leadership, describing the governor as a visionary whose developmental strides have repositioned Oyo State for growth. “Governor Makinde’s leadership has brought stability, progress, and a renewed sense of purpose to our state,” he added.
Party leaders in attendance lauded the governor’s efforts in improving infrastructure, boosting agriculture, and enhancing social welfare across Oke Ogun. They cited the region’s road expansion projects, agricultural initiatives, and socio-economic reforms as tangible evidence of Makinde’s commitment to balanced development.
At the conclusion of the meeting, Adejumobi Samuel Ademola read a six-point communiqué reaffirming the zone’s unflinching support for the governor and calling for greater unity among members. He stressed the importance of building a resilient political structure capable of withstanding external pressures and internal challenges ahead of future elections.
The stakeholders also resolved to intensify membership drives across the ten local governments, particularly targeting young people and professionals, to infuse new ideas into the party’s operations. They pledged to continue aligning with the governor’s inclusive governance model and to work collectively towards ensuring that the PDP remains the dominant political force in Oyo State.
