Nigeria’s Flying Eagles capped their 2025 FIFA U20 World Cup preparations with a disciplined 3-1 win over Australia in Santiago, Chile, on Tuesday night, Soccernet.ng reports.
Tahir Maigana, Achihi Oseer and Charles Agada got the goals for the Flying Eagles in what is Nigeria’s final international friendly before the tournament kicks off later this week..
The friendly, staged behind closed doors at the Complejo Deportivo Ruca Mapu, offered one last chance for both sides to fine-tune ahead of next week’s FIFA U20 World Cup.

Nigeria looked the sharper of the two teams striking twice in the opening half as the former African champions displayed their intent.
Tahir Maigana put the Flying Eagles in front with a tidy finish before Achihi Oseer doubled the advantage. Australia pulled one back before the break, but Nigeria controlled large spells of the second half.

Trevor Morgan’s side pressed for an equaliser, but the West Africans held firm. With seven minutes to play, Charles Agada smashed home a third to seal the victory and quieten any doubts about Nigeria’s readiness.
The result followed Nigeria’s 1-1 draw with hosts Chile last week, where Ahmed Akinyele scored early before Felipe Faúndez levelled.

Australia, by contrast, arrived off a 3-2 win over Ukraine but found Nigeria’s pace and physicality too much to handle.
Aliyu Zubairu’s boys now head into Group F of the World Cup with real confidence. They open their campaign against Norway on Monday in Talca before further clashes with Saudi Arabia and Colombia.
Australia, placed in Group D, face a tougher path with Argentina, Italy and Cuba lying in wait.
Kick-off against Norway comes at 9pm Nigerian time, and Zubairu will hope his side carry the same edge into their tournament opener.
