A former Deputy Chief Whip of the Senate and former Chairman of the Oyo State Advisory Council, Senator Hosea Ayoola Agboola, on Friday, resigned his membership from the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).
Agboola, popularly known as Alleluyah, announced his resignation in a letter dated October 10, 2025, and addressed to the Chairman of the PDP in Itesiwaju Local Council of Oyo State.
Copies of the letter were also sent to the PDP state secretariat in Molete, Ibadan, and the party’s national secretariat, Wadata Plaza, Abuja.
The former lawmaker, who was with Governor Seyi Makinde during his first term, thanked the party for the opportunity to serve at both state and national levels.
He, however, said his decision to quit the party was informed by what he described as “future political pursuit.”
Agboola, who represented Oyo North Senatorial District in the 7th National Assembly, is a major political figure in Oyo State and was a key player in the PDP structure in the state.
The letter read in part, “I, Senator Hosea Ayoola Agboola, a member of the Peoples Democratic Party and a leader both at the state and national levels, appreciate the party for the opportunities afforded me to serve as a member and leader of the party as well as the achievements made therein.
“However, you will observe that I did not participate in all the congresses held recently — local and state congresses — due to future political pursuits which are necessary at this material time. Consequently, I hereby resign my membership from the Peoples Democratic Party effective from October 10, 2025, as I wish the party success in its activities.”
