The Edo State Chairman of the National Conscience Party (NCP), Hon. Victor Ogba, has announced his defection to the All Progressives Congress (APC), describing the decision as a return to his political roots.
Ogba, who also serves as the National President of the Movement for Nigerian Transformation (MNT), told journalists in Abuja on Saturday that he would formally join the ruling party on September 16. He explained that he had already been received by the APC Ward 5 Chairman in Isoko South Local Government Area of Delta State on August 22.
“I have played politics all through in Edo, but it is time for me to go back to my home state, which is what I am doing on Sept. 16,” Ogba said.
The politician highlighted his contributions to the NCP through planning and mobilisation, but said the time had come to align with the APC to advance national and state development. He pledged to apply his political experience toward strengthening the ruling party.
Ogba also said he would work closely with stakeholders in Delta State, including Senator Joel-Onowakpo Thomas, representing Delta South, and Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, to promote stability and development under the APC.
He reiterated his readiness to abide by the party’s constitution and contribute to its future successes.
“As NCP chairman, I contributed to the party’s growth and success through effective planning and mobilisation,” he noted.
The former NCP chairman urged Nigerians to support the APC in order to achieve President Bola Tinubu’s vision for the country.
