President Bola Tinubu and Governor Francis Nwifuru were, yesterday, endorsed for a second tenure by political stakeholders, community leaders and youths from Ishielu Local Council of Ebonyi State, citing good governance as the reason for the endorsement.
The allegiance was communicated via an event tagged a one million march, with different banners bearing different pictures of the President, governor and the council chairman, from Eziulo junction to the council headquarters, with inscriptions 4+4=8 amid solidarity songs to the affected political officers.
They even pass a vote of confidence on their incumbent council chairman, Mrs. Peace Agwu, endorsing her for another two years. The Guardian learnt that the unanimous endorsement was cemented during a road walk staged across the council area, where thousands of residents and party faithful gathered to publicly demonstrate their call for continuity of the current leadership, citing what they described as “excellent leadership and tangible development.”
Addressing the gathering, the Ishielu Council Chairman, Agwu, lauded the organisers for their demonstration of love to Mr President, the governor and herself, commending Governor Nwifuru’s administration for the massive infrastructure drive across the state, particularly in Ishielu.
She pointed out specific projects, including the construction of over 23 kilometres of roads in Ezza Ezillo, which she credited with bringing “permanent peace” to the area.
“His initiation of two kilometres of roads in each traditional ruler’s palace, modern duplexes for the monarchs, and the construction of 144 bungalows in Amaeze community, as compelling reasons for the people’s admiration and endorsement,” Agwu noted
She also extended gratitude to President Tinubu for the ongoing construction of a dual-carriage road passing through the council, noting that its critical role as not just as a piece of infrastructure, but as a key driver for economic growth in both the state and the entire Southeast region.
Echoing the call for continuity, coordinator of the ‘Alive Men for FON’ group, Agwu Uchenna, described the movement as a crucial step for peace and progress.
“A good tenure deserves another,” he declared, appealing directly to the council chairman to accept the call for a second term in the service of humanity.
A critical stakeholder and former board member of the Ebonyi Broadcasting Corporation (EBBC), Ali O. Daniel, framed the endorsement as a historic moment.
