Finidi George and his Rivers United side will be looking to rewrite history in the CAF Champions League this season…
Former Nigeria Premier Football League club Rivers United have been drawn in Group A of the CAF Champions League, alongside RS Berkane, Pyramids and Power Dynamos, Soccernet.ng reports.
Last week, former Super Eagles coach Finish George led Rivers United to become the first Nigerian club in eight years, to qualify for the group stage of the CAF Champions League, after defeating Black Bulls of Mozambique 3-2 on aggregate.
The draws for the competition group stages took place on Monday in Johannesburg, and Rivers United got a tough draw.
The former NPFL champions were drawn in Group A. They will have to face Pyramids (Egypt), RS Berkane (Morocco), and Power Dynamos (Zambia).
Pyramids are the defending champions of the Champions League, while RS Berkane won the CAF Confederations Cup last season. Power Dynamos are also returning to the competition for the first time since two seasons ago.
