The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) said it had arrested a notorious drug kingpin after a three-year manhunt and intercepted opioids worth more than 7.8 billion naira ($5 million) in a nationwide crackdown. A group of 13 people were camping outdoors in Inner Mongolia’s Urat Rear Banner when a flash flood occurred around 10 pm (1400 GMT) on Saturday, according to state news agency Xinhua. The Nigerian Immigration Service will today, Sunday, August 18, 2025, deport 42 out of the 192 Chinese and Philippine nationals convicted for cyber terrorism and Ponzi scheme offences back to their home countries. The first batch of deportees, scheduled to leave Nigeria at exactly 2:00 p.m. local time, was among 759 persons arrested during a major raid on December 10, 2024, at Oyin Jolayemi Street, Victoria Island, Lagos. Other deportees will depart Nigeria on Monday and Tuesday, respectively, and will be airlifted back to their countries.
