A legal practitioner in Akure, Ondo State, Oyekanmi Isijola, has dragged nine people, including another Akure-based female legal practitioner, Oluwanike Omotayo, to an Upper Area Court in Ilorin over alleged criminal intimidation, forgery, defamation, injurious falsehood, and cyber stalking. The other eight people were those accused of conspiring with lawyer Omotayo to dispose of the property bequeathed to lawyer Isijola. The Revenue Mobilisation Allocation and Fiscal Commission (RMAFC) has announced the commencement of a fresh review of the revenue allocation formula that governs how money from the federation account is shared among the federal, state, and local governments. The exercise marks the first comprehensive reassessment in more than three decades, with the last major adjustment carried out in 1992. Since then, minor modifications have been made through presidential executive orders, but the core structure has remained largely unchanged. Sodiq Ojuroungbe Maternal and reproductive health experts have described unsafe abortion as a “silent killer” of women in the country, blaming poverty, ignorance, and Nigeria’s restrictive abortion laws for the growing number of preventable deaths.
