The Minister of Livestock Development, Idi Maiha, has advocated for the adoption of grazing reserves to boost the sector, noting that pastoralism as a system of livestock rearing is no longer sustainable in Nigeria due to the threats of climate change and the intense competition for natural resources amidst the increasing national herd. The minister said, “Despite the 417 grazing…
Governor of Sokoto State, Ahmed Aliyu, has expressed concern over the rising trend of the “informant syndrome,” where individuals aid criminal activities for small sums of money. He noted that unemployment has played a significant role in the problem and pledged to continue introducing measures to engage youth so they can become productive members of society. Aliyu made this statement during the inauguration of a committee tasked with overseeing the recruitment of 3,000 workers into the State Civil Service. The initiative aims to reduce high unemployment rates and youth restiveness, which often drive young people towards social vices. The governor…

Resident doctors form the backbone of Nigeria’s public health system, providing a large share of clinical services in federal and state hospitals. Any strike action by the association often paralyses healthcare delivery, leaving patients stranded and hospitals overstretched. In a message titled “Declaration of strike action” and signed by…

The new album is titled “Fuji,” and for Adekunle Gold, it’s more than just a sound. In his words, “Fuji was the genre that raised me, even when I didn’t realise it. The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) has accused Senate President Godswill Akpabio of leading the persecution of Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, senator representing Kogi central. Akpoti-Uduaghan had, in a letter dated August 28, notified Yahaya Danzaria, the acting national assembly clerk, of her intention to resume on September 4, the date she said marked the end of her six-month suspension. On Tuesday, the national assembly prevented Akpoti-Uduaghan from resuming legislative duties, insisting that her suspension is still a subject of litigation. In a statement on Thursday, Joe Ajaero, NLC president, said the continued suspension of Akpoti-Uduaghan is a “brazen, premeditated assault on democracy”…
