Ekiti State Teaching Service Commission has promoted 6,129 teaching and non-teaching staff in public secondary schools in the state. Chairman, Ekiti Teaching Service Commission, Mrs Rhoda Ojo, said the staff were those who were successful in the just-concluded 2022/2023 promotion exercise in the State. The Ogun State Government has shut down four companies over industrial accidents and safety violations, including fatalities and hazardous working conditions. Quantum Steel Industry in Ogijo, Sagamu Local Council, and Xinfeng Plastics Limited along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway were shut following incidents that resulted in deaths. The Federal High Court in Lagos, on Thursday, ordered the final forfeiture of $1.4m alleged fraud proceeds linked to former Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Godwin Emefiele. Justice Ayokunle Faji, in his ruling, held that the funds were proven to be proceeds of unlawful activities and must be forfeited to the Federal Government. A 37-year old man, Alokan Oluwatosin, was on Thursday, docked before an Ile-Ife Magistrates’ Court for allegedly assaulting a 90-year old woman. Oluwatosin, whose address was not given, is being charged with assault and breach of public peace, to which he pleaded not guilty.
