The Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN) has strongly condemned the recent statement by Islamic cleric Ahmad Gumi alleging that Christians in the Middle Belt are “burying empty coffins” to fabricate a narrative of genocide. The condemnation was contained in a statement signed by the PFN National Publicity Secretary, Dr. Sylvanus Ukafia, and made available to the press. Ukafia described Gumi’s claim as baseless, inflammatory and one that collapses under the slightest scrutiny. “Across Nigerian cultures—Christian, Muslim and traditional—there is no practice of burying empty coffins,” Gumi reportedly said. “Funerals are communal, identity-based rites anchored on real names, real families and…

Former Super Eagles midfielder Mutiu Adepoju has lauded tactician Eric Chelle’s courage in taking up the Nigerian coaching job at a time when failure seems certain, Soccernet.ng reports. Nigeria had endured a miserable start to the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers, failing to win any of their first four matches. The Obidient Movement has dismissed concerns over the recent resignation of a few interim appointees, insisting that the development is part of a natural recalibration as the citizens-driven platform moves into a new phase of growth and consolidation. In a statement on Saturday, National Coordinator, Dr. Yunusa Tanko, said the movement remains united and focused despite the departures, stressing that leadership turnover is expected in a fast-paced, volunteer-based organisation advocating political and social reform. According to him, the group appreciates the contributions of the outgoing members but maintains that the Obidient Movement’s strength lies in its voluntary and decentralised structure—one…

By Abayomi Ajayi Walking casually into a fertility clinic doesn’t reveal much about the hundreds of eggs or tiny embryos preserved in glass-like stillness, floating in liquid nitrogen at,196°C. But that is exactly what is on the ground, each of those eggs or embryos representing a story, a struggle, and a dream waiting to thaw. Anyone who has walked the long, unpredictable road of in vitro fertilisation understands how emotionally draining it is, the medications, the injections, the waiting, and the heartbreak from a negative result. For years, success depended heavily on the fragile timing of your body and the…

Captain of the Super Eagles of Nigeria, William Troost-Ekong, has revealed what sets Victor Osimhen apart from other strikers he’s played with in the green and white jersey, Soccernet.ng reports. The 26-year-old is well on course to break the legendary Rashidi Yekini’s goalscoring record, as he’s just six goals away from equalling Yekini’s record. Osimhen has scored five goals in the last two games for Eric Chelle’s side, doing well to revive Nigeria’s World Cup qualification chances from the ashes. Now, he’s tasked with leading the Super Eagles against DR Congo tomorrow evening as a place at the Mundial on…
A fresh wave of verbal fireworks erupted on Saturday within the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), as Lere Olayinka, Senior Special Assistant on Public Communications and Social Media to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, derided party leaders who announced the expulsion of his boss and that of other pro-Wike figures. Reacting in a characteristically acerbic tone, Olayinka dismissed the action of the PDP group that met in Ibadan, describing their gathering as nothing more than a premature December revelry masquerading as a political meeting. “When people decide to start their own dirty December in November,…
