Justice Allagoa has dismissed a high-profile lawsuit filed by Chief Emeka Jackson Mewu and 26 others against the Federal Ministry of Works and five other defendants over the Lagos-Calabar coastal highway, citing procedural violations and joined issues in the suit. The gale of defection by members of the opposition political parties continues to intensify as two members of the House of Representatives have defected to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC). The two members are Peter Akpanke, representing Obanliku/Obudu/Bekwara federal constituency of Cross River State, who defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), and Prof. Paul Nnamchi, representing Enugu East/Isi Uzo federal constituency of Enugu, who left the Labour Party (LP).
