The Nigeria Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (NEITI) has stated that Nigeria generated over 831.14 billion dollars in revenue from the oil and gas sector between 1999 and 2023. NEITI’s Executive Secretary,  Ogbonnaya Orji, stated this on Monday when he appeared before the Senate Committee on Public Accounts. He also stated that the country requires $20 billion annually for the next 10 years to develop its gas infrastructure. The committee, chaired by Senator Ahmed Wadada, was receiving briefings on the findings of NEITI’s 16-cycle reports covering 78 firms in the extractive industries. The state Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed this to the PUNCH on Wednesday. “Portable just turned himself in at the SCID Yaba. We have contacted Ogun State Police Command to come pick him up,” Hundeyin stated. Agency The Anambra State Governor Charles Soludo has pledged to collaborate with the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control to eliminate fake, substandard, and adulterated drugs from the market. Soludo made the promise on Saturday in Onitsha while addressing traders of Ogbo Ogwu and surrounding markets, which were recently shut down by NAFDAC for dealing in counterfeit and expired drugs. The Dangote Petroleum Refinery on Sunday announced a reduction in its price of the Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), also known as petrol, to ₦970 per litre for oil marketers. The company’s Chief Branding and Communications Officer, Anthony Chiejina, disclosed this in a statement. He said the decision is the refinery’s way of appreciating Nigerians “for their unwavering support in making the refinery a dream come true”. The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) says charges will now apply anytime customers use the Automated Teller Machines (ATMs) of banks other than theirs. This was contained in a circular dated February 10, 2025, and addressed to all banks and financial institutions, the apex bank’s acting Director of Financial Policy and Regulation Department, John Onojah. “The three free monthly withdrawals allowed for remote-on-us (other bank’s customers/not-on-us consumers) in Nigeria under Section 10.6.2 of the Guide shall no longer apply,” the circular partly read. Troops of 6 Division, Nigerian Army, have dismantled 18 illegal refining sites and arrested 17 suspected oil thieves in a major operation against oil theft in the Niger Delta region.
