Manchester City new boy Iliman Ndiaye has revealed that he could not turn down the opportunity to join the Premier League giants, saying the chance to play Champions League football was a major factor in his decision. The 26-year-old completed a £60 million move from Everton to City on transfer deadline day after Tottenham had initially appeared set to sign him. Spurs had agreed a deal with Everton, but the transfer collapsed after they were unable to sell Richarlison. City then stepped in with a late approach, and Ndiaye said he was delighted when the opportunity arrived. As reported by…

Shooting Stars had returned to continental football after 27 years. It is an occasion that should have carried the weight of history, yet large portions of the 10,000-capacity stadium remained unoccupied as the Nigerian club faced Tunisia’s CS Sfaxien. That was the first thing that struck me at the MKO Abiola Stadium on that faithful Saturday evening. There were supporters in the stands, but they were concentrated in one section. Their numbers were modest, perhaps around 30 per cent of the stadium’s capacity, and there were no visible travelling supporters from Tunisia to add to the atmosphere. Photo credit –…

Nigerian defender Emmanuel Fernandez has revealed the key area Rangers must improve despite their narrow 1-0 win over Motherwell in the Scottish Premiership on Saturday, Soccernet.ng reports. The Gers secured their third successive league victory after being made to work hard for all three points against Motherwell. Rangers have now recovered from a slow start to the season, winning their last three matches across all competitions. They suffered an early setback when striker Lawrence Shankland was forced off through injury. However, his replacement, Ryan Naderi, made an immediate impact by scoring the only goal of the game in the 12th minute. He capitalized on a mistake…
