Commends 411 per cent revenue increase.
The Lagos State Chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has described the 411 per cent increase in revenue collection announced by the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) as a testament to the effectiveness of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s economic reforms.
The party, in a statement on Thursday by its spokesman, Mogaji Seye Oladejo, attributed the revenue growth to bold policy measures implemented by the President, citing contributions from oil revenues, non-oil collections, Value Added Tax (VAT), customs duties, and direct remittances by the Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) into the Federation Account.
These outcomes, according to the APC, reflect improved transparency and accountability in Nigeria’s public finance management, marking a significant shift towards fiscal discipline and responsible governance.
According to Oladejo, the revenue achievements are indicative of purposeful leadership and sound economic direction, bolstering Nigeria’s prospects for sustainable growth.
He noted that forthcoming tax adjustments are intended to widen the tax base and ensure fairness, consistent with a governance approach balancing progress and responsibility.
Oladejo stressed that these measures underscore the administration’s commitment to prudent fiscal management and economic renewal.
He added that recent electoral successes and current fiscal outcomes underscore public support for the Tinubu administration and demonstrate Nigeria’s positive trajectory, while affirming that President Tinubu’s policies are yielding tangible results, contributing to the country’s economic advancement and reinforcing optimism about Nigeria’s future.
Taking a swipe at the opposition, the party said: “We only have pity for the opposition whose pack of lies has, as expected, failed the test of time. It is worth reminding these prophets of doom — who gleefully predicted collapse, chaos, and untold hardship — that the very reforms they mocked are now rewriting Nigeria’s economic story.”
It further stressed: “While the opposition traffics in falsehood and fear-mongering, the Tinubu administration is producing facts, figures, and results that even the fiercest critic cannot deny. The recent by-election victories nationwide were already a referendum on the Tinubu administration; today’s fiscal breakthroughs only serve as further proof that Nigeria is on the right path.”
The statement concluded: “Indeed, the question ‘Is PBAT working?’ has been answered loudly and clearly by the numbers. Yes — President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is working, and Nigerians are witnessing a turnaround that cynics said was impossible.”
The Lagos APC congratulated President Tinubu, Dr. Zacch Adedeji, and all reform-minded patriots driving the change, adding: “Together, we affirm that Nigeria will rise again. So help us God.”
