The National Chairman of the Labour Party, Julius Abure, has urged the people of Edo Central Senatorial District to rally behind the party’s candidate, Paul Omo Okojie, in the upcoming August 16 election.
Abure made the appeal while flagging off the party’s senatorial bye-election campaign in Uromi, the Esan North-East Local Government Council headquarters.
The Labour Party National Chairman said that Uromi deserves the opportunity to produce the next senator for Edo Central, noting that other local government areas in the district have already taken their turns.
“It is now Uromi’s turn to occupy the Senate seat. The other LGAs have had their share.
“We must give Uromi the chance, and the best person to lead this cause is Hon. Paul Okojie,” Abure stated.
Describing the party’s candidate as a youth and a vibrant voice, Abure said Okojie is a courageous leader capable of articulating the aspirations of the people of Edo Central.
He called on all and sundry in Edo Central to support the Labour Party ahead of the bye-election, saying, “We have only one authentic candidate for this election, and he is Paul Okojie.
“Security agencies must apprehend anyone impersonating our candidate.
“The Labour Party will not tolerate such illegality.”
In his remarks at the event, the LP candidate, Paul Omo Okojie, said he is determined to win the August 16 election and is not in the contest to step down for any candidate.
