Super Eagles forward Terem Moffi has revealed what impressed him most about Hamburg’s dramatic 3-2 comeback win over Hoffenheim on Saturday.
Hamburg claimed only their second win of the Bundesliga season after coming from behind to score twice in the closing stages, including a stoppage-time winner against the 10-man hosts.
The German side had beaten FC Köln to record their first league win of the season before the international break and Saturday’s victory has now moved them out of the relegation zone and up to 11th place in the Bundesliga standings.
Yussuf Poulsen, who was preferred to Moffi, opened the scoring for Hamburg in the 12th minute. However, Hoffenheim drew level before half-time when Sebastiaan Bornauw turned the ball into his own net.

Bambase Conte put Hoffenheim back in front early in the second half, but Hamburg were handed a major advantage when Bernardo was sent off in the 65th minute.
Moffi, who had come on just seven minutes earlier, made the most of his opportunity by scoring the equaliser in the 83rd minute. Miro Muheim, who assisted the Super Eagles forward’s goal, then completed the comeback with a winner in the fourth minute of stoppage time.
Moffi: Super Eagles star reacts to Hamburg’s win
The Super Eagles forward had to settle for a place on the bench before coming on in the second half, but he made an immediate impact, scoring his first goal for Hamburg, which set them on course for a memorable victory.
Speaking after the match, Moffi expressed his delight at making a very important contribution in the win.
“We are very proud. I’m happy that I was able to help the team with my goal. Miro’s cross was a wonderful throw-in. All I had to do was get into position”, the Super Eagles forward told Hamburg’s official website.
“After that, I had the feeling that we still had the opportunity to win the game. We succeeded in this at the last minute.”
Although Hamburg were playing away from home, Moffi was very pleased with the support their fans brought to the stadium.
The Super Eagles forward singled out the number of Hamburg supporters who travelled to watch the game as something special, and expressed his gratitude for their backing throughout the encounter.

“It’s an extraordinary feeling to see how many HSV fans have set off to watch the game here. Crazy! We are grateful to each individual for coming.”
Polzin hails Moffi and Hamburg’s performance
Hamburg head coach Merlin Polzin had backed Moffi to make an impact ahead of the game and was pleased with the Super Eagles forward’s contribution after bringing him on as a substitute.
The coach also praised the overall team performance and the supporters who travelled to watch the match.
“Overall, it was a great afternoon for us. It was a great performance together with everyone who supported us in the stadium. There were a lot of little stories when I think of Miro, Yussi or Terem, for example”, Polzin said.

Moffi, who joined the Bundesliga side on a permanent deal during the summer transfer window, will hope his first goal for the club marks the beginning of a productive spell in Germany.
The Super Eagles forward will now be pushing for a starting place when Hamburg return to home action against Stuttgart in the Bundesliga next weekend, as they look to build on their win over Hoffenheim and extend their winning run.
