Super Eagles midfielder Alhassan Yusuf delivered an impressive performance as New England Revolution returned to winning ways with a convincing 4-1 victory over Atlanta United on Sunday, Soccernet.ng reports.
The Revolution were held to a goalless draw by Toronto FC in their previous outing, which was their first game after the MLS resumed following the break for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
They responded in style against Atlanta, with Carles Gil, Dor Turgeman, Peyton Miller and Brooklyn Raines getting on the scoresheet for the hosts. Former Newcastle United midfielder Miguel Almiron scored a late consolation goal for the visitors.

New England went into the match looking for their first win in three league games, while Atlanta arrived without a victory in their previous five MLS matches.
The visitors started brightly, with Almiron causing problems in attack, but Matt Turner denied the Paraguayan with an important save.
The Revolution then took the lead through Gil, who curled a brilliant effort into the bottom corner to make it 1-0.
The hosts doubled their advantage in the 36th minute from a well-worked corner. Yusuf delivered an excellent cross to the near post, where Turgeman was on hand to apply the finishing touch.
Atlanta almost reduced the deficit before the break. Almiron beat Turner with his effort, but the shot crashed against the woodwork before being cleared away, allowing New England to head into halftime with a comfortable 2-0 lead.
The Revolution continued to dominate after the restart, and Yusuf was again at the heart of the action.
The Super Eagles midfielder intercepted a pass in midfield, collected the return ball, and whipped in another dangerous cross for Miller to tap home from close range, registering his second assist of the afternoon.
The assist took Yusuf’s goal contributions for the season to four, as his continues to show his influence in New England’s midfield.
Raines added a fourth goal in the 66th minute to put the result beyond doubt before Almiron finally found the net with five minutes remaining as the Revolution comfortably sealed a 4-1 victory.
The win lifted New England Revolution to third place in the Eastern Conference standings as they continued their push towards the MLS playoffs.

The 26-year-old enjoyed the first multi-assist game of his MLS career in what was his 16th league appearance of the season.
Despite playing only 59 minutes, Yusuf was outstanding in midfield. The Super Eagles midfielder finished with an impressive 97% passing accuracy, completed all three of his long-ball attempts, made five ball recoveries and two tackles, while directly contributing to two of his team’s four goals.
His all-round display earned him a 7.3 Sofascore rating, despite spending just under an hour on the pitch.
Yusuf and New England Revolution will look to build on the result when they face CF Montréal in their next MLS fixture next weekend.
