Super Eagles and Leicester City midfielder Joe-Ayodele Aribo will not be in action for the Foxes this evening when they take on Southampton in the fourth round of the FA Cup, Soccernet.ng reports.
The 29-year-old moved to the King Power Stadium after a dreadful start to the 2025/2026 campaign that saw him struggle for minutes at St. Mary’s under manager Will Still.
The former Rangers midfielder played 32 games for Southampton in the English Premier League last season, but fell out of favour and only played six Championship games for the Saints this season, with all of his appearances coming off the substitute’s bench.

Why Joe Aribo won’t feature in Leicester’s clash against Southampton
The Super Eagles midfielder played 77 minutes on his club debut in their loss to Birmingham City last week, but will be out of action against his former side this evening.

According to the Daily Echo, Joe Aribo will not feature against Tonda Eckert’s side because there’s a clause in his Leicester loan deal that prevents him from playing against his parent club.
“He’s had this week where he couldn’t play in the two Southampton games by the time the cup game’s over.
“Hopefully, he’ll have had a week where he’s had minutes against Birmingham, and now he’ll be up to speed as well,” Leicester City coach Andy King said about the Nigerian International.

The Foxes are currently 22nd in the Championship and are in danger of relegation to the Sky Bet League One after they saw six points deducted from their accrued total due to a breach of EFL profit and sustainability (P&S) rules.
