Former Turkey international and Galatasaray forward Hasan Şaş has weighed in on the fierce 2025-2026 Super Lig title race, Soccernet.ng reports.
Şaş, 49 tipped Galatasaray to come out on top ahead of rivals Fenerbahçe and Trabzonspor as the season moves into a decisive phase.
The three heavyweights are locked in a tight battle at the summit of Turkish football, with Galatasaray chasing a fourth straight league crown. Okan Buruk’s side currently lead the table with 50 points from 21 matches after a convincing 3-0 away victory over Çaykur Rizespor at the weekend.

Fenerbahçe, sitting second, have the chance to cut the gap to three points if they defeat Gençlerbirliği tonight, while Trabzonspor remain firmly in contention in third place on 45 points, buoyed by the goals of Nigerian striker Paul Onuachu.
Despite the pressure of the title run-in, Şaş believes The Lions have developed the mentality required to navigate difficult moments. The former Galatasaray forward pointed to Victor Osimhen’s missed opportunity against Rizespor as proof of their champion character.
Osimhen found the net in the second half to wrap up the win but earlier squandered a clearer chance with the score still at 1-0. For Şaş, the key was not the miss itself, but how Galatasaray responded.

“When the score was 1-0, Victor Osimhen missed a chance, but I didn’t see any panic among the players,” Hasan Şaş said as per Aslan CW.
“I don’t see an air of ‘we won’t win this match’ among the players, and that’s the championship reflex.”

Osimhen continues scoring run as Galatasaray pull clear
While the miss stood out, Osimhen once again ended the night on the scoresheet as the champions powered to a comfortable victory on the road.

The Nigerian striker struck in the 73rd minute after collecting a pass from Noa Lang at the edge of the box, driving into the area, rounding goalkeeper Fofana and finishing calmly into an empty net from a tight angle to make it 3-0.
That goal took Osimhen’s tally to 15 in all competitions this season. He has now scored in five consecutive Super Lig matches, netting six times in that run.
In the league alone, the 27-year-old has nine goals to his name, while he has also added six strikes in the UEFA Champions League, making him one of Galatasaray’s standout performers in their push for domestic and European success.
