Human resource professionals and health experts are set to converge in Lagos on Thursday to deliberate on workplace wellness, wellbeing, and employee welfare at a one-day conference on Employee Assistance Programmes.
The conference is being sponsored by Chevron Nigeria Limited in collaboration with Sages and Scribes Consultants.
The organisers said the event would focus on how Employee Assistance Programmes could be deployed to improve staff wellbeing and boost workplace productivity.
According to a statement on Tuesday, the mini conference will bring together HR professionals, workplace counsellors and wellness experts to examine the role of EAPs in addressing employee wellness, wellbeing and welfare in modern organisations.
A psychologist, executive coach and workplace counsellor, Dr Laila St Matthew Daniels, is expected to deliver the keynote address titled ‘The EAP Ecosystem: The Values and Benefits’.
Speaking ahead of the event, the Managing Director of Sages and Scribes Consultants, Venerable Adelowo Adesina, described Employee Assistance Programmes as a critical tool for enhancing employee performance and organisational productivity.
He said, “Employee assistance is about employees’ wellness, employees’ wellbeing and employees’ welfare. The core of EAP is employees’ wellness for productivity and performance.
“EAPs are a vital element of modern workplace wellbeing and productivity. This conference will examine the full EAP ecosystem, from prevention and early intervention to counselling, crisis response and integration with organisational policies.”
Adesina noted that the conference would expose participants to best practices in deploying EAPs for measurable organisational outcomes, adding that it would highlight the tangible benefits for employers, employees, and the wider community.
He also disclosed that participation in the event would be free, adding that the programme would be held in both physical and virtual formats.
According to him, “Registration for the conference is free, and we encourage HR professionals, EAP practitioners, workplace counsellors, wellness specialists, occupational health workers and others interested in employee wellbeing and welfare to register online.”
The conference will feature expert presentations, interactive workshops, panel discussions and stakeholder meetings aimed at translating EAP concepts into practical strategies.
Key focus areas include demonstrating the business case for EAPs through return on investment, reduced absenteeism and increased productivity; ensuring clinical and ethical standards in service delivery; integrating EAPs with HR strategy and organisational culture; innovation through digital tools and tele-counselling; crisis preparedness; and case studies from local and international organisations.
Organisers said a stakeholders’ meeting would also be held to explore ways of improving the practice of EAPs, workplace wellness, workers’ wellbeing and employee welfare in Nigeria.
