A member of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and staunch supporter of President Bola Tinubu, Khamis Musa Darazo, has appealed to the Presidency and the party’s national leadership to urgently intervene over reports of a possible defection by Isa Ali Ibrahim Pantami, former Minister of Communications and Digital Economy.
Darazo described Pantami’s potential exit as “a major political loss and setback for the APC, both in the North and across Nigeria.”
He warned that several key figures within the party were reportedly considering defection, urging the leadership to act swiftly to prevent the situation.
According to him, Prof. Pantami is “more than a politician — he is an intellectual, reformer, and bridge-builder who has consistently used knowledge, faith, and integrity to promote good governance and inspire young Nigerians.”
Darazo commended Pantami’s tenure under former President Muhammadu Buhari, noting that his leadership in the Ministry of Communications and Digital Economy transformed Nigeria’s digital landscape by fostering innovation, job creation, and entrepreneurship.
He cautioned that losing Pantami would weaken the party’s intellectual and moral foundation and send a discouraging message to millions of youths who regard him as a symbol of integrity and visionary leadership.
“The APC’s strength has always been rooted in unity, inclusion, and visionary leadership. Every loyal member is important, especially someone like Professor Pantami, whose influence and moral standing transcend party lines,” Darazo emphasised.
