Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen was the man of the match in Galatasaray‘s 1-0 win over Liverpool in the UEFA Champions League, Soccernet.ng reports.
The 26-year-old scored the only goal of the game from the penalty spot in the 16th minute after Dominik Szoboslai was penalised for an outstretched arm that hit Baris Yilmaz.
Osimhen played 72 minutes in his first start since August, before making way for Mauro Icardi. Still, he was involved on the touchline, cheering his teammates on as they held on for all three points at RAMS Park.

What Osimhen said after Galatasaray’s victory
After the Cimbom Aslan were thumped 5-1 by Eintracht Frankfurt two weeks ago, a win against a massive side like Liverpool lifted the fans, and the Super Eagles star revealed that results like this are one of the reasons he joined the Turkish side permanently.
“Clearly, I would like to congratulate the team first,” the former Napoli man said in quotes revealed by the club’s official website.

“They were very challenging opponent for us, and a lot of people, except for the fans here, didn’t believe that we were actually going to win.
“We knew how to fight together as a team. I’m out of practice with the team.
“I’ve been away from practice and three weeks of training, but for me, Galatasaray is the biggest team in the world. I think we’ve had a huge victory for Galatasaray right now.”
“That’s why I came here anyway. It is really flattering for me to be told at Galatasaray all the time, and that the fans support me in this way.
“And because of them, I always play better. I love Galatasaray and its fans very much,” the 2023 CAF Player of the Year concluded.
Galatasaray’s next UEFA Champions League game comes up on the 22nd of October, as they welcome Bodo/Glimt to RAMS Park.
