Accreditation and voting have commenced at Polling Unit 022, Ward F, Alausa, Ikeja, Lagos State, where President Bola Tinubu is expected to cast his vote in the ongoing local government elections.
Officials of the Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission (LASIEC) arrived at the polling unit early, with the process beginning at 8:40 a.m. Security personnel, including police officers, were present to maintain order, while party agents observed the proceedings.
The election is being held across all 20 Local Government Areas and 37 Local Council Development Areas in the state.
Similar voting activity was observed at other polling units in the Alausa area, including Units 027, 113, 038, and 112, where residents turned out to cast their votes.
At Polling Unit 003, St Peter’s Primary School, a voter, Omolara Jemiriye, described the exercise as orderly. “I just voted for my candidate, and the process was smooth. There was no issue,” she said.
The election is being closely monitored amid calls for increased voter participation and concerns about transparency and security.
