The Bayelsa State Governor, Sen. Douye Diri has said the Dr. Arthur Ifeanyi Okowa led Delta State Government is building schools instead of building prisons.
Sen. Diri made the assertion during the commissioning of Ighogbadu Secondary School in Warri South Local Government Area.
“Be ready to build prisons if you don’t want to build schools and education for our people.
“The Government of Delta State is building schools rather than building prisons.”
Gov. Diri appreciated his Delta counterpart whom he christened as a “Workaholic Governor”.
While noting that the school which produced him as a governor is a mud and zinc house, Gov. Diri commended Dr. Okowa for erecting the gigantic office.
According to him,” I see Governors, I see presidents, I see lawyers, I see doctors in the school. Your vision and impact of what you’re doing here today is resounding.”
Earlier in a remark, Governor Arthur Ifeanyi Okowa promised to construct extra classroom blocks to cater for the educational needs of the people in the area.
He said no amount of money and time’s too much to take care of the education of the people.
The Orosuen of Okere-Urhobo Kingdom in Warri, HRM. Emmanuel Ono Okumagba JP, Okumagba III noted that the newly commissioned school lacks teachers.
The monarch appealed to the governor to employ qualified indigenes of the Community to work in the secondary school.
“Use your wisdom of catchment area to employ our young people to teach in this school.”
The Orosuen also urged the governor to allow Okere-Urhobo Community-women serve in his administration.
